Nikon has pulled the covers off what could be the most versatile lens in the Z-range line up. The Nikkor Z 24mm f/1.8 S is designed for Nikon’s range of full-frame mirrorless cameras (the Z6 and Z7) and has a lot to offer.

The new Nikkor Z 24mm f/1.8 S is a versatile lens for the Z 6/Z 7 cameras.
Boasting a fast aperture of f/1.8 that will not only create incredibly shallow depths of field but also ensure shutter speeds are kept high in low light conditions to avoid camera shake, the latest Z optic also offers a decent closest focusing distance of just 25cm.

The real beauty of this lens though is the versatile focal length of 24mm, which is suitable for everything from landscapes and architecture photography, through to wider portrait and general travel imagery, too. What’s more, with the smooth, near-silent autofocus and fast aperture, the 24mm f/1.8 S will be of interest to videographers using Nikon’s Z6/Z7 for film-making work.

Weighing just 450g, the fast-aperture lens is weather-sealed.
Suitable for professional everyday use, the 24mm f/1.8 S is weather-sealed to protect against moisture and dust. What’s more, the control ring found on the 24mm can be used for silent aperture control or exposure compensation, and as a focus ring when using the lens in manual focus mode.

Built around a 12 elements in 10 groups design with a 9-bladed rounded diaphragm opening, to improve image quality the 24mm f/1.8 S features Nikon’s anti-reflective Nano Crystal Coating technology to reduce ghosting and flare. As you’d expect from a prime 24mm lens for a mirrorless system, the Nikon lens is lightweight, tipping the scales at just 450g.
