After posting teasers on the internet, Profoto finally unveiled its latest new product – the compact and portable B10 lighting system that can deliver up to five time more light than your regular speedlight flashgun.

Check out this video about the Profoto B10 system.

According to Profoto, the B10 measures up just a little bigger than a medium-sized zoom lens and weighs just 1.5kg. The cordless rechargeable battery-powered strobe can offer continuous light for both stills and video use with the interface enabling photographers to adjust both brightness and colour temperature. Profoto say the B10 can be mounted to any tripod, used with lightstands or even handheld. What’s more, B10 can also be used while the battery is being recharged.

The B10 can be used handheld like a regular flashgun.

Compatible with more than 120 light shaping modifiers from Profoto’s range, the B10 light can be triggered remotely using the Profoto AirTTL or Profoto A1 remote from up to 300 metres/1000ft while still using TTL and full manual control is available also. Profoto has also added smart connectivity to the B10 by making it compatible with a smartphone app that allows the photographer to view and control the B10’s settings from a smartphone screen.

Small and stylish, the B10 can be used with a huge range of accessories.

Other features include the inclusion of High Speed Sync (HSS) and there’s a colour temperature range of 3000-6500K. The B10 will likely appeal to professionals who spend a lot of time working out on location where access to mains power is rare and to those who feel their flashguns are a little underpowered.

The B10 looks like a great solution for on-location lighting.

The B10 features 250Ws of power and will be available in two different kits: the B10 single head kit (£1410) and also the B10 Duo Kit (£2820) which, of course, offers two heads, extending lighting possibilities for photographers.

To show exactly what the B10 system is capable of capturing, Profoto released some official imagery taken with this compact strobe….

With 250W of power, the B10 is a good choice for sunny day portrait shoots.
The B10 lights can be triggered from 300 metres away.
The B10 lights also feature High Speed Sync mode.
