Ever tried to take a photo with your camera through glass? If the answer is yes, you’re probably well aware of the problems that occur with reflections appearing in the frame. Well, the team behind Ultimate Lens Hood may have a solution and could have possible made….well, the ultimate lens hood.
Check out the Ultimate Lens Hood…
The clever accessory was announced on Kickstarter and has already smashed its funding target. Josh Smith, who’s the main man behind the Ultimate Lens Hood explained; “I was sick of trying to take photos on my travels of incredible city skylines and having them constantly ruined by glare and reflection. After looking at what was available on the market, and realising that thousands of other photographers face the same problems, this is the solution I have come up with. A stretchy silicone cone that’ll fit any lens, the ULH helps you transform bad photos full of window reflection into clean and clear images, as if the window was never there.”
Josh explained more about how the hood works; “With no complicated set-up, the hood stretches over your lens with one hand and will stay in place as long as you need it. You’re free to move around, readjust and angle your camera to get the shot you’re looking for, regardless of whether you’re taking photos, shooting video or recording time lapses.”
The Ultimate Lens Hood is useful for situations such as shooting city scenes through glass or perhaps capturing views when you’re at the top of a skyscraper and simply can’t avoid shooting through glass. If you are shooting with a smaller camera or even a phone, there’s a smaller Mini Ultimate Lens Hood option available too.
The silicon lens hood also doubles up as a protective changing mat for when you may want to place the camera down safely to change lenses or memory cards and can be used as a makeshift weather protector for your DSLR. The Mini version of the Ultimate Lens Hood is currently listed with a £20 price-tag, while the full size version is listed as £30.
