Nikon’s Coolpix W100 Is A Shower Curtain Masquerading As A Camera

Forget wood panelling and Soviet-era lenses – the new Nikon Coolpix W100 is a waterproof compact camera that will really incur the envy of rival photographers at your next meetup. Just look at those colours. The camera itself is similar to the Coolpix S33, and will be available in select Asian and European markets.

It’s got a 13.2MP sensor with 3X optical zoom lens which is equivalent to 30-90mm. The W100 is also durable with a waterproof rating to 10 metres (32 feet), shockproof to 1.8 metres (5.9 feet) and freezeproof to -10C (+14F).

If you’re using the camera underwater it will automatically detect faces and the large buttons will help you capture high quality images or video. It shoots in 1080p and has an electronic vibration reduction function to help remove camera shake.

The camera also uses SnapBridge connectivity (through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 LE) so you can transfer images directly to your phone or smart device without removing the SD card.

If the shower curtain look isn’t for you, it also comes in these other colours

It also has ‘filters’ that add cartoon effects and stamps to the images – a feature you’ll surely never tire of. If you wanted to step it up a notch it has a ‘add Light Trails’ mode that will collate multiple exposures to capture light trails.

Unfortunately it doesn’t shoot in RAW, but it will at least turn a few heads at your next trip to the beach.
