Sony a7R III to Feature 80 Megapixel Sensor?

Here we go again with another Sony specs story. While there are striking similarities to the a7RS we invented, this is not an April Fools’ Day joke.

The new a7R III is expected to be released later this summer. The new mirrorless will fall under the a7’s high resolution banner and Sony Alpha Rumors are quoting a source as saying it will come packed with a new 70 – 80 megapixel sensor. This would be 30 to 40 megapixels more than the a7R II.

They’re also updating in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) to surpass the super steady 5-axis image stabilisation found inside the a7R II.

We believe the camera is currently undergoing quality control tests with a 24-70 F2.8 GM lens at above 60 megapixels and for 6K+ video with very promising results.

Though, at this rate we can expect another 10 cameras from Sony by the end of the year!
