In their first year, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are setting out to celebrate technically excellent photographs of wildlife which are also humorous to draw attention to the plight of endangered animals and habitats.
The competition has been run in partnership with the Born Free Foundation, an international charity which works to stop the suffering of animals and species in the wild.
All entries must have been snapped in the wild.
Over 1,500 entries were received from 52 countries.
Below we share the winner by photographer Julian Rad. But first, a selection of the best of the rest.

Rad wins the grand prize of a photographic safari in Tanzania with competition founder Paul Joynson-Hicks as guide and tutor, along with a Nikon D570 with a 24-85 mm lens.
