Photographers Hold their Iconic Photos for Polaroid Portrait

Tim Mantoani pairs the world’s most iconic images with their maker in Behind Photographs, a personal project that attempts to preserve and simultaneously give recognition to the people behind the camera.

Beginning in 2006, Mantoani captured Polaroid portraits of photographers holding their photos using a hefty 20×24 Polaroid camera, of which only a handful remain; over the course of five years Mantoani was able to take over a hundred portraits of these renowned photographers with their iconic works.
